Hyderabad Board: Specially abled students seek preference for the ground floor

Hyderabad Board: The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) of Hyderabad is flooded with requests concerning hall tickets but this time, there’s more to this list of requests coming from the specially challenged students who are demanding additional infrastructure to facilitate the smooth writing of their examination.

The secretary of BIE expressed that they have received requests from a number of specially challenged students who wish to have their eats allotted on the ground floor. Recalling the figure of the current year, he stated that over 1300 students who need special care shall be writing the exam. Further, expressing his helplessness, he said that though they have informed the respective centers to take care of this issue, many more candidates were approaching them expressing their unwillingness/ difficulty to climb the stairs.

He conveyed that many of the students were not presenting their medical certificates which would state their permanent or temporary disability and such facility was only for “genuine candidates”
There has also been a conflict with respect to providing scribes to the visually impaired. While the government, on one hand, will be providing scribes, some of them have stated that they have obtained the permissions to take their own scribe to the center.

With respect to the candidates who are hearing impaired who have appealed for an additional time have not been sent any official confirmation for the same. A student named Priyanka who shall be appearing for the examination at Miryalaguda along with her parents have requested for an additional 30-minute duration. While there are rumors in the air that extra time shall be given, no official confirmation has been received from the authorities, said Priyanka’s father D Anand Rao.
