Daulat Ram College: Overview

In the heart of the North Campus, Daulat Ram College has been a gem in the star-studded crown of University of Delhi. It was established by Sh. Daulat Ram Gupta in the year 1960 which is awarded with the grade ‘A’ by NAAC

It imparts education throughout various streams of Arts, Science and Commerce at an undergraduate and postgraduate level. It also holds a leading position in the curriculum as well as extracurricular activities including dramatic, music, etc.

After all, this college is a dream come true to its aspirants, hence let’s grow closer to grow with it. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Admission in Daulat Ram College, as all other Delhi University Colleges, depends upon cuts offs released by the college. 
  • For a candidate to be eligible to apply in the college he/ she must pass 10+2 in any stream and the result of the best four subjects will be considered at the time of admission
  • There are certain courses for which a candidate has appear for the entrance exams conducted by Delhi University like DU JAT
  • According to these results and the cut off lists, the applicant can surely browse through the various courses offered on the campus. The college holds a wide range of courses, like the Bachelors of Arts Honors, holds the opportunity to pursue courses ranging from Economics to Music.

Other than these, the courses offered at the college includes B.A. (H) in Philosophy, Hindi, Political Science,English and Sanskrit, whereas B.Sc (H) in Mathematics, Biochemistry, and Chemistry. The college also holds a commendable B.A. Program.

College Placement

The placement cell in the college is quite efficient in bringing in companies. The placement drives are conducted in a very professional manner, and there are rules which are strictly followed. However, most of the companies visit the college to hire the students of commerce course or any other non-language arts courses. Some of the students were recruited on campus by Ernst & Young and other notable industries. Some students were awarded the Gandhi fellowship for two years.

The faculty of the college is also on dot and hard working towards the students they cater to.

1. MOU with ‘National Institute of Immunology’

The college has signed an MOU with ‘National Institute of Immunology’, Delhi, for collaboration in terms of lectures and laboratory facilities. While its signed another MOU with ‘SANSRITI’, the ‘Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology’ along with ‘Mayo Clinic’, New York, U.S.A, for motivating students and teachers in the field of experimental science.

2. The Commendable Music Ragas

The college has an amazing music society which will send you for a toss over the melodies which will flow into your classes every now and then. From Lata Mangeshkar, to Pav Dharia, everyone resides in the vocals of these walls.

3. NSS Clearance is a big deal

If you need your admit card, an NSS clearance is a must hence when you take in admission, do not forget to make that one friend on the NSS, who holds some authority. Believe, you me things get done easier and faster.

4. Rangshala – The Amphitheatre

Well, it’s like a dream come true when your college holds its own amphitheatre, that too, the one which is indeed a matter of pride for the students at the college. The newly renovated amphitheater is the stage that is exploited by the students day after day for the performing arts, protests, activities, dramatics and well, plain ol’ chilling.

5. Sadbhavana Bhawan – The Auditorium 

daulat ram collegeWith a seating capacity of 1500, it is the ideal auditorium that goes with the demands of Delhi University cultural activities. From intra to inter-college events, Sadbhavana Bhavan is one of the most lit spaces on the Daulat Ram College campus.

6. The DRC Fest – Manjari

Manjari, the DRC fest is another thing that may excite you to know more about this college. With stars like Tulsi Kumar and Guru Randhawa adding colour to its start night last year, Manjari is one fest you’d certainly not like to miss!

7. The Nescafe Area

Exams and coffee works hand in hand on campus as a well served Nescafe Kiosk turns to be your favorite spot on campus. Though of course after the Rangshala, it also makes you go just right in the head on early morning class days.

8. Tom Uncle’s Maggi Point

This street food kiosk serving the best maggi since ages is the perfect thing life depends on at DRC. This place not only serves hunger but also serves the journey of memories made in college life throughout. Tom Uncle’s Maggi Point has always been a saviour for North Campus students for all the right reasons. The food, the vibe; everything’s absolutely tailor made to tickle youngster’s fantasies.

9. Hudson Lane

Hudson Lane with it’s plethora of cafes is the perfect hangout spot for all college students who are on a shoestring budget in their pockets, but Hudsons solve it all. It is in a way the most perfect place to be for all students as no matter what, you’ll always leave with your pockets still jingling too hard in for you.

 

10. The Terrace

Though off-limits, the terrace of the college is the best place a student may find solace. It’s like that high end of life where you reach only to look forward and walk ahead, that’s the kind of vibe does the terrace hold around it. Hence, if the going gets hard, this is exactly where you are going.
