It has undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The motto of the college is “Gather the Wisdom of East and West”. The principal of the college is Inderjeet S. Bakshi. 

Eligibility Criteria: Dyal Singh College

For admission to the first year of graduate courses offered by the university, the qualifying examination is the ‘Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination’ from CBSE or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto. 

Every course has a different minimum aggregate score for an aspirant to be eligible for it but on an average, a candidate must have an aggregate minimum score of 50% to be eligible for any course in the college.

1. The Orientation is not normal… it is Fun

After you’re successfully done with the entire race and enter the college life, attend the orientation session conducted by the college. Many of the students generally don’t attend the orientation day as they think that it is like the school assembly which it is not. It is actually a fun session where the students get to know the college and their faculty as well as meet new friends and even the seniors who will accompany them throughout the session. Therefore orientation session is a fun event to know more about the college, alumni, seniors, and friends.

2. The Famous Courses

Dyal Singh College’s morning shift is famous for geography, history, b.com Hons, etc. and Dyal Singh evening college is famous for political science (Hons.), English (Hons.), B.com, B.com (Hons.) and vocational courses such as OSMP, IRPM and travel tourism management.

3. Places to roam around and chill…

Obviously, if you enter a college you look out for the surroundings too and places you can roam around in your leisure time and when you bunk your lectures. Some of the places near the college that will pull your attention are Humanyus’s Tomb, Lodhi garden and Lotus temple. The people who are interested in shopping and marketing should visit Khan Market where you can get premium shopping and dining destination. For peace and of course, good marks you can visit the Sai Baba Temple near the college.

4. Placements

The placement cell of the college works well and provides internships in the corporate sector and the famous companies of India. Some are paid and some are unpaid but gives you a lot of experience of the actual environment. Some of the companies that visit the campus are Genpact, E&Y, KPMG, PWC and many more.

5.The college fests…

The college is in two shifts morning and evening shift. ‘Priyadarshini’ is the annual cultural fest of the college which is organized 2 to 3 days in college. It is the fest for the morning shift. ‘Zest’ is the dance society of the college which performs in the fest. Rajnigandha is a fest of the evening shift. Last year it was conducted with an electric blend of art and old world charm. The events organized were interesting some of them are Jashan-e-Junoon, mixtape, rangsagar and many. These fests are organized by the students themselves in a fantastic way!

6. Canteen

The best place to run away from the lectures and just chill is always the canteen, whether it is school or college. The canteen is the area where most of the students are found usually. The canteen of the Dayal Singh College is pretty good, the prices of the eatables and the shakes are reasonable and the quality is good. Samosa and chai are a must try combo here. The college canteen has a self-service system. The canteen is spacious and you can spend your free time there and even sit with your friends when you bunk your classes.

7. Take a plunge and think for your career

You will get enough time and opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities. You can pursue other courses like CA, CS or prepare for CAT on your own but at Dyal Singh college, you have to look for the opportunities and be present minded to realize what is coming. No, one will come and initiate to talk to you or invite you to be a part of any society or any competition. Even for the fests, you have to be proactive to be a part of the happening events at the college. Hang around with people, make contacts and keep in touch with all the presidents and this will surely help.

9. Access to Library

The college Library has a total collection of about 96,000 books and 53 journals/magazines provided for the academic needs of the students and faculty. Only registered members are allowed to use the library.
Separate spaces within the library are created to serve the visually and physically challenged people. These spaces are equipped with computers (JAWS software installed), Scanners, Braille printer, and HP LaserJet printer, microphone, etc. In addition to the above, the library also has laptops, MP3 Players, Tape Recorders and Braille books for the use of visually challenged students. 

10. Societies

DU colleges are very active in the field of ECA, sports and also academics, after all, it is the most prestigious university of India. Like all the other DU colleges, Dyal Singh also has lots of student societies like-

11. Alumni Meet

Dyal Singh College is a well-known and reputed college of DU. Alumni meet is arranged by the departments for the people who have studied there. Alumni like Priyanka Kothari (actress), Alka Lamba (politician), Pankaj Singh (politician) and many more notable alumni belong to the college.

The College is good to explore your own talent and helps you to modify your character. The various activities help the students to interact with each other. The morning and evening shift of college is slightly different from other colleges. If you go to college make sure you enjoy the above-mentioned things.
